BACKGROUND

Trust established in 1912 in MA.

Founded by the late George I. Alden, who was educated at Harvard's Lawrence School of Science and taught mechanical engineering for 28 years at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In 1885 he joined with several other business men in establishing the Norton Emery Wheel Company. As second president and later chairman of the board, Mr. Alden initiated one of the first programs for helping employees to acquire further education.
