Monday, September 5th

           6:30 PM- Funding Your Future- Fellowships

This is an overview of the major fellowships (including Rhodes, Marshall, Gates Cambridge, Mitchell, Fulbright, Goldwater, NSF GRFP, and more), and what it takes to apply.  There are hundreds of fellowships out there, and we can help you find the right match.  Undergraduate and graduate students are welcome to attend.

Monday, September 12th

          6:30 PM- Keep the Streak Alive!  32 Goldwater winners and counting...

This is an overview of the Goldwater Scholarship, the most prestigious STEM award in the US for undergraduate students.  Clarkson students have been remarkably successful winning this award, but we need your help to keep our 17 year streak going!

7:00 PM- Fund your PhD- NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program

The NSF-funded GRFP supports graduate study in STEM fields.  Successful applicants will be awarded a three year stipend of $34,000 per year plus a generous cost of education allowance for tuition/fees.  Clarkson students and graduates have an excellent track record of being recognized by NSF- you could be next!

Personal statements and essays are a key component of applying to colleges, graduate programs, fellowships and NSF REUs.  Find out the key components of a successful personal statement and how to “hook” your reader.

        6:30 PM- Writing the Research Proposal

An important part of your successful Goldwater or NSF GRFP application will be a research proposal.  Find out how to get started, and what you need to include.

        6:30 PM- Getting Great Letters of Reference

Believe it or not, there is a “right” way to ask someone for a letter of recommendation.  Find out how!

Monday, November 28th

6:30 PM- The Premier Cultural Exchange Fellowship- FULBRIGHT Scholarship

Fulbright Fellows receive an academic research/study grant or an English Teaching Assistantship in approximately 140 countries.  Looking to travel internationally post-college?  This could be the fellowship for you.  We will also give a brief overview of some of the other fellowships that offer international travel.

October 17, 24, November 7, 14 at 6:30 PM- Fellowship Workshops at 6:30 PM

We will hold Fellowship Workshops on Monday evenings for students working on fellowship applications.  Students should bring current drafts of applications/essays to work on, and we will engage in a process of staff and peer review/editing.
