Application Process

Research the programs through CU Global Portal

Log in to the portal > choose Set/Reset Password > use your Clarkson email address and you will receive an email which will include a link to Set Your Password.

You will then be logged in to the system. From here you will be able to research the programs available and when the applciation becomes available you will be able to apply.  The application form allows you to choose a first, second and third choice.

In addition to the application you will be required to submit the following:

  •  2 recommendations - Ask 2 people to complete the recommendation form which will be emailed to them through the CU Global portal.  One recommendation must be submitted by a Clarkson faculty or staff member.  The other can be from a former teacher, coach or supervisor.  The recommender will be sent an email.  They will complete and submit the recommendation.  You will be able to see when the recommendation has been completed. You will need to write an essay as part of the application
  • Essay with the following criteria:
    • A 300-500 words
    • What is motivating you to study abroad?
    • What personal characteristics you have that will make you successful as an exchange student at our partner institutions?
    • Why your school choices are a good fit for you. 
  • Copy of the information page of your passport
  • 5 Off-Campus Coursework Permission Forms for your First Choice Program
      • If you are accepted to your second choice program you will need to complete the forms for that program.
      • Unofficial copy of your transcript.  An official transcript will be needed for the application to the partner university once you are accepted into the Study Abroad Program by Clarkson.

You will submit your application and set up a meeting time with the International Center to discuss your application to help us make our selections.
