U.S. News: Clarkson University Rises in Tier One of National Universities

Supply Chain Management Program Ranked 14th in Nation

U.S. News & World Report’s "America’s Best Colleges 2010" has again placed Clarkson University in tier one, the top tier of national universities, with a ranking of 119 -- up from 121 last year.

Its School of Business Supply Chain Management program is ranked 14th in the nation.

The undergraduate engineering program is recognized as one of the "Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs" whose highest degree is a doctorate, with a ranking of 85.

Clarkson is also on the "A+ Options for B Students" list.

"U.S. News has joined with this year’s record number of applicants to Clarkson in recognizing our evolution to excellence," said Clarkson University President Tony Collins. "Clarkson is one of the smallest schools in this top tier of national universities, which enables us to offer a different experience than larger colleges. From hands-on learning to a very personalized education, Clarkson offers an academic experience that’s far from conventional."

Clarkson’s Supply Chain Management program, highly acclaimed by employers of Clarkson graduates, was listed among the 19 best in the nation for the eighth consecutive year, ranked number 14 in Supply Chain Management/Logistics. Other schools on the list include MIT, Penn State, Purdue, Georgia Tech, Penn, and Indiana University.

Clarkson’s undergraduate engineering program, ranked at 85 for Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs whose highest degree is a doctorate, has also been consistently listed among the top in the nation.

Last year’s average starting salary for all Clarkson graduates was $53,000, and one in six alumni is already a CEO or senior executive.

Clarkson is in good company in the top tier, which it shares with schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech and Duke.

Each year U.S. News surveys more than 1,400 accredited four-year institutions for their annual "Best Colleges" issue. To be considered for the "National Universities" category, the institutions must offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master’s and doctoral degrees, and also emphasize faculty research.

Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in six alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and health sciences, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
