Thomas Kassouf Elected Clarkson University Trustee

Thomas L. Kassouf '74 of Port Washington, Wisc., and Wellesley Island, N.Y., senior vice president of Snap-on Inc. and president of Snap-on Tools Group, has been elected to the Clarkson University board of trustees. He will serve on the development and facilities committees.

Thomas L. KassoufSnap-on Tools Group is a leading global innovator, manufacturer and marketer of tools, equipment, diagnostics, repair information and systems solutions for professional users performing critical tasks.

Kassouf previously served at Snap-on as president, Commercial Group, and president, Snap-on Equipment.

His roles prior to Snap-on included vice president & COO, Wabash National; VP & GM, Kohler Generators; VP, Russian Engine Programs Pratt & Whitney; VP& GM, Turbo Power & Marine (Pratt & Whitney); president, Carlyle Compressor Company (Carrier Corp.); director of Engineering Operations, Carrier Corp.; and various engineering roles at Carrier Corp. and Goodyear Atomic.

Kassouf received his bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University in 1974 and completed the Engineer Officer Basic Course at Ft. Belvoir, Va.

Kassouf serves on Clarkson's Wallace H. Coulter School of Engineering Dean's Leadership Council and on the Milwaukee School of Engineering Corporation Board.

He served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1974-1989 and on the Clarkson University Engineering Advisory Board from 1987-1993. He has received Clarkson's Woodstock Award and the United Technologies Mead Gold Medal for Excellence in Engineering. Kassouf holds nine U.S. patents.

Married to Lynn “Soko” Kassouf (Clarkson Class of 1976), the couple has four grown children. Longtime residents of Syracuse, N.Y., until 1999, they have a summer cottage on Wellesley Island, N.Y.
