A film by two Clarkson University professors will receive distribution after playing at festivals this spring.

NontraditionalThe feature-length film drama Nontraditional, written and directed by Clarkson University Assistant Professor of Film Brian Hauser and produced by Clarkson Assistant Professor of Political Science Christina Xydias, will receive distribution through the Pentagon Channel as part of its series, "The Best of the G.I. Film Festival." In addition, the filmmakers have partnered with Tugg Inc. to provide non-theatrical distribution for the movie to college campuses, veterans organizations and beyond.

Nontraditional is a feature-length drama focusing on the transition of a 26-year-old female combat veteran (Kat Evans playing Erika Byrd) from the Army into her freshman year of college. Byrd struggles to adjust to her new life, and the temptation to return to the structure of the military is strong.
Nontraditional was an official selection of three film festivals in 2014. The film was an official selection of the Bare Bones International Film and Music Festival in April in Muskogee, Okla., where the festival jury nominated it in the categories of Best Feature Drama, Best Actress in a Feature (Kat Evans) and Best Actor in a Feature (Nnamdi Ubozoh). Nontraditional also was an official selection of the inaugural Catskill Mountains Film Festival in May in Delhi, N.Y. Finally, the film screened as part of the NewFilmmakers New York 2014 Spring Series in May at the Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan.
