The higher the quality of the program and the lower the cost, the better the deal. Only schools ranked in or near the top half of their categories are included, because U.S. News considers the most significant values to be among colleges that are above average academically.

The survey editors also placed Clarkson University in the "A+ Options for B Students" list, which they identify as strongly rated schools that accept nonsuperstars who have potential and will work hard.

"This U.S. News ranking bears out what we already know about Clarkson -- and that is that we provide an excellent return on investment for our students," said Clarkson President Tony Collins. "Our graduates go on to remarkably successful careers, making true contributions to our society by creating solutions to real-world problems.

"Clarkson has always worked to make higher education accessible to all qualified students and remains at the forefront of utilizing innovative approaches to help students finance their education -- especially those students who already have a business or are getting ready to commercialize new technology."

Affordable Colleges Online lists Clarkson in the nation's top-30 private universities that offer a return on investment of at least $1 million. ACO also ranked Clarkson in New York state's top-10 for colleges and universities that provide the highest return on investment (ROI). Forbes magazine also ranks Clarkson University in its top-50 list of "America's most entrepreneurial universities."

Of students graduating in Clarkson’s Class of 2013 and using the campus Career Services Center, 95 percent reported being placed in their field of study in the first year after graduation.

Clarkson is in good company in the top tier undergraduate rankings as well as the Best Value Schools category, which it shares with schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, MIT, Stanford, Cal Tech and Duke.

Each year U.S. News surveys 1,365 accredited four-year institutions for their annual “Best Colleges” issue. Schools in the "National Universities" category, like Clarkson, offer a full range of undergraduate majors, master's, and doctoral degrees. These colleges also are committed to producing ground-breaking research.

Clarkson University launches leaders into the global economy. One in five alumni already leads as a CEO, VP or equivalent senior executive of a company. Located just outside the Adirondack Park in Potsdam, N.Y., Clarkson is a nationally recognized research university for undergraduates with select graduate programs in signature areas of academic excellence directed toward the world’s pressing issues. Through 50 rigorous programs of study in engineering, business, arts, sciences and the health professions, the entire learning-living community spans boundaries across disciplines, nations and cultures to build powers of observation, challenge the status quo, and connect discovery and engineering innovation with enterprise.
