Clarkson University Teddy Bear Toss Collects 363 Stuffed Animals for Pediatric Patients

Clarkson University collected 363 stuffed animals at its second annual Teddy Bear Toss to benefit child patients at local hospitals.

Clarkson University Physician Assistant students and other volunteers helped collect stuffed animals at the University's second annual Teddy Bear Toss. A total of 363 stuffed animals are being distributed to child patients at local hospitals.The Clarkson Physician Assistant Program, with sponsorship of the Clarkson Union Board, invited the community to donate new stuffed animals at the men's hockey game on Feb. 7. After the Golden Knights scored their first goal, the stuffed animals rained down on the ice and were quickly scooped up by the hockey players, Cheel staff and PA students.

All donations will go to local hospitals, including Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Claxton Hepburn Medical Center, Massena Memorial Hospital, Gouverneur Hospital, Alice Hyde Medical Center, Adirondack Medical Center, Carthage Area Hospital and the Guthrie Clinic at Fort Drum.

"A total of 363 stuffed animals were collected and are currently being distributed to area hospitals and clinics for their pediatric patients," said Clarkson Physician Assistant Studies Chair Michael Whitehead. "Additional funds were raised for the PA students’ mission trip to the Dominican Republic in March. The Clarkson PA program wishes to thank everyone who supported this great event."
