Clarkson University Hosts Sports Camps Throughout Summer 2015

Clarkson University is hosting a variety of exciting sports camps throughout the summer for children and teens.

Clarkson is hosting a variety of exciting sports camps throughout the summer for children and teens.Students have the opportunity to work with Golden Knights Hockey Strength & Conditioning Coach Tad Johnson through strength training, speed development, conditioning and nutrition training to take themselves to the next level in hockey or any sport. This camp is for commuters only at various days and times from May 18 to June 25, or July 13 to Aug. 13.

Head Hockey Coach Casey Jones and his Division I staff are offering hockey day camps for mite, squirt, peewee and bantam levels that include specialized goalie instruction, a focus on team concepts and additional lessons in skill development and strength and conditioning. The mite and squirt camps will be held from July 6 to July 10, and the peewee and bantam camps will be held from July 13 to 17.

The Clarkson 2015 Youth Girls Hockey Camp will be held from Aug. 16 to 20 for girls ages seven to 14. Matt Desrosiers, co-head coach of the 2014 NCAA National Champions Clarkson Women's Hockey and his team will offer a top-notch, Division I style commuter camp full of both on-ice skills and fundamentals, as well as off-ice skills, such as conditioning, nutrition and the college search process.

Children and teens ages seven to 17 interested in the Clarkson Baseball Camp can register for a commuter day camp with Head Men's Baseball Coach James Kane from 8 a.m. to noon from July 6 to 9. This camp focuses on all aspects of the game for all skill levels, and participants will benefit from small group and individual instruction and skill assessment in a fun and engaging atmosphere.

Head Women's Softball Coach Kristen McGaughey is leading four different clinic-style commuter camps to suit players of all levels. Basic Fitness and Pitching is being offered from June 23 to July 30, and Elite Pitching is being offered from Aug. 4 to 13 for ages 11 to 17. Defensive Camp is being offered from July 28 to Aug. 13, and Advanced Strategies Camp is being offered from Aug. 1 to 16 for girls entering grades six through 12.

A Nike Clarkson Girls Volleyball Camp will be offered for extended day commuters and residents from July 30 to Aug. 2. This Nike-sponsored volleyball camp is a great opportunity for girls ages 10 to 18 to learn from Clarkson's championship volleyball team and Head Women's Volleyball Coach Johannes Dulfer as they cover skills training, conditioning, one-on-one evaluations and more.

Aspiring college soccer players can sign up for the Men's Soccer ID Camp with SUNY Potsdam from July 25 to 26. Residential only, this camp provides players with high-level technical and tactical training sessions vital to succeeding at the next level, showcasing the culture and coaching styles of both the Clarkson and SUNY Potsdam soccer programs.
