The case study competition, based on a real scenario Polaris Industries faced five years ago, challenged students to present a solution along with their reasoning and supporting data.

The teams' solutions were then evaluated by a panel of supply chain professionals, who awarded the Clarkson students second place for their presentation. APICS is the leading professional organization for supply chain management.

"The student case competition motivates contestants to think critically, come up with creative solutions and support their ideas with an in-depth analysis," said Farzad Mahmoodi, Joel Goldschein '57 Endowed Chair Professor in Supply Chain Management. "Participating in the competition was a great experience for the students as it allowed them to apply materials learned in their classes to fully develop and support a strategic recommendation.  The event also provided a great networking opportunity, since the students were able to interact with supply chain experts in a professional setting."
