Kaitlin Monte Elected Clarkson University Trustee

Kaitlin Monte of New York, N.Y., a news personality on WPIX "PIX11 News" has been elected to the Clarkson University Board of Trustees. She will serve on the external affairs, and finance and budget committees.

Kaitlin MonteMonte, a 2006 graduate of Clarkson University's early college program, the Clarkson School, received her bachelor of science degree from the University of Tampa at age 19.

As a journalist on PIX11 News, Monte serves as lead traffic anchor as well as a features reporter. She also hosts a segment on the WPIX exclusive entertainment show "Celebrity Tastemakers."

Previously, Monte was a host on WNBC’s Today in New York and on SportsNet New York. Prior to entering broadcasting full-time, Monte worked in digital media as director of multi-platform marketing.

Monte is a nationally recognized political and community advocate for New York State anti-bullying political and community policy. Named the 2012 Anti-Defamation League's "No Place for Hate" Difference Maker of the Year, her award winning school workshop series has reached more than 50,000 students across New York State.

She collaborated with lawmakers on the crafting of contemporary New York State cyber bullying legislation and launched the first state cyberbully census, which gathered contemporary data from 10,000 students state-wide. Her keynote workshop has been featured by Random House Publishing, New York University, Pricewaterhouse Cooper, the Alliance for Community Media and in partnership with the 2012 "Bully" documentary.

For the last six years, Monte has also been a member of the USO Show Troupe, the official entertainment group for the United Services Organization, which provides musical performances and entertainment for American military personnel and families.

A native of Pittsford, N.Y., Monte resides in the Borough of Brooklyn.
