Vega Appointed Assistant Professor of Accounting at Clarkson University

Jose “Jay” G. Vega III has been appointed assistant professor of accounting at Clarkson University.

Jose “Jay” G. Vega III He received his bachelor of science in business administration with a major in statistics from the University of Denver and his MBA from Colorado State University-Pueblo. He received a Ph.D. in business administration (accounting) from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

His research interests include auditing, capital markets, financial reporting, and managerial accounting. His teaching interests include managerial accounting, financial accounting, financial statement analysis, and auditing.

Vega has been working at Clarkson since fall 2014, teaching graduate-level managerial accounting. He also has taught at Idaho State University, and the University of Texas at San Antonio.

He has written and co-written articles in professional journals, and has several manuscripts in progress. He has made many presentations in the United States as well as abroad on topics related to auditing and asset relief. In August, he gave a presentation on “Going Concern Audit Reporting and Subsequent Earnings Management Behavior” to the American Accounting Association.

His honors include the Best Doctoral Student Paper, “Trouble Asset Relief Program’s Impact on Earnings Informativeness: A Study of Compensation Contracts,” at the AAA Southeast Regional Meeting.

Vega has served on the Graduate Admissions Committee at Clarkson, the Academic Dishonesty Board at Idaho State University, and the Graduate Council Committee at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

He is a member of the Ph.D. Project, the American Accounting Association, and the European Accounting Association.
