Clarkson University Professor Named to Association of Title IX Administrators Advisory Board

Clarkson University Assistant Professor of Humanities and Title IX Coordinator Jennifer Ball has been named to the Association of Title IX Administrators (ATIXA) advisory board.

Jen BallBall was named a contributing editor for ATIXA's newsletter, Title IX Today, in the fall.

Title IX of the U.S. Education Amendments of 1972 states no person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance. Sexual harassment and sexual violence are viewed as discriminatory acts due to the denial of a person’s ability to consent and the negative impact of such acts on participation in educational opportunities.

Since its inception in August 2011, the goal of ATIXA is to fill the gap in the knowledge base and skill sets of the administrators who serve and will serve their schools and campuses as coordinators.

The organization has grown to more than 4,000 members, serving institutions, campuses and school districts throughout the nation. ATIXA has become the leading organization for Title IX training, certification and information -- with more than 7,500 Title IX coordinators and investigators certified to date.
