Clarkson University Welcomes Otto as Chair and Associate Professor of Healthcare Data Analytics

Clarkson University has welcomed Peter Otto as chair and associate professor of healthcare data analytics.

Peter OttoOtto was previously a faculty member at Union Graduate College (UGC), which merged into Clarkson in February. He is based at Clarkson's Capital Region Campus in Schenectady, N.Y., the former UGC.

Otto's areas of academic interest include information systems management, health informatics, decision science, simulation, and data analytics.

Otto is also a visiting professor at the IESEG School of Management and Lille Catholic University in France; and a visiting faculty member at the Lorange Institute of Business Zurich.

In 2011, Otto was an international visiting research fellow at Massey University in New Zealand and from 2003-2008, he was a visiting research fellow at Cornell University's Department of Applied Economics and Management.

Otto is a recipient of the Team-Teaching Award for MIS/IT EMBA Seminar from the Graduate School of Business Administration (GSBA) Zurich. He also was twice awarded the Best Academic Reader’s Article Award from the University Tubingen, the Joint Committee on Management, Springer-Verlag, and GSBA Zurich for articles on management. He is a member of the System Dynamics Society.

Prior to his academic posts, Otto had business, marketing and public relations positions with international firms Ogilvy & Mather, Grendene & Partner, WMP Marketing and Public Relations, TECAN AG, and Pharmaton SA, Lugano.

Otto received his MBA from the State University of New York at Albany and the GSBA in Zurich, Switzerland, and a Ph.D. in information science and systems from the Nelson A. Rockefeller College of Public Affairs & Policy, State University New York Albany, while also studying system dynamics at MIT, Sloan School of Management.
