Clarkson University Welcomes Carlson as Associate Professor of Marketing

Clarkson University has welcomed Jay Carlson as an associate professor of marketing.

Jay CarlsonCarlson was previously a faculty member at Union Graduate College (UGC), which merged into Clarkson in February. He is based at Clarkson's Capital Region Campus in Schenectady, N.Y., the former UGC.

His areas of interest for teaching include marketing management, market research and consumer behavior. His research has focused on consumer behavior in response to marketer-supplied price and product size information, consumer knowledge, consumer reactions to health services information, and consumer inclination to help non-profit organizations.

Carlson was an invited lecturer at the Bulgarian Entrepreneurial Conference in Tryavna, Bulgaria, and has presented his work at other professional conferences. He has published articles in many peer-reviewed journals, including one article that received honorable mention for best article in a distinguished journal in marketing. Carlson has also been a reviewer for numerous marketing journals and conferences, and is a member of the American Marketing Association.

Carlson is an academic advisor for MBA students, a member of the assessment committee, and secretary for the Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter. He also served on a committee responsible for helping to integrate the former UGC and Clarkson.

Before coming to Union Graduate College and Clarkson, Carlson was an assistant professor of marketing at Bradley University.

Carlson received his bachelor of science degree in business with a major in marketing and a professional golf management option from Ferris State University, his MBA from Minnesota State University at Moorhead, and his Ph.D. in business administration with a major in marketing and cognate in psychology from the University of South Carolina.
