Budisic Appointed Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Clarkson University

Marko Budisic has been appointed assistant professor of mathematics at Clarkson University. He is additionally affiliated with Clarkson's Institute for a Sustainable Environment.

Marko Budisic He received his Dipl.-Eng. in electrical engineering from the University of Zagreb, Croatia, and his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

His areas of research expertise are in applied mathematics, in particular in theory and applications of dynamical systems, data analysis, inverse problems, scientific computing and fluid dynamics.

Before coming to this position, Budisic was a Van Vleck Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Prior to that, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

He has teaching experience from UC Santa Barbara and UW Madison.

He has published articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has made presentations at conferences and workshops in Spain, Canada, Japan, China, Germany and the United States.

His awards include the Best Presentation of the Year by vote of students and parents, Madison Math Circle, University of Wisconsin, Madison; and Best Teaching Assistant, Department of Mechanical Engineering, UC Santa Barbara.

He has been a reviewer for a variety of professional publications. Also, he organized minisymposium sessions at 2011, 2013, and 2015 SIAM Conferences on Applications of Dynamical Systems, Snowbird, USA, and the Teaching Circle, a bi-weekly instructional peer development program for mathematics faculty at UW Madison.

He is a regular participant at SIAM Conferences on Applications of Dynamical Systems and meetings of APS Division of Fluid Dynamics. He additionally participated in workshops at MFO Oberwolfach (Germany), Banff International Research Station (Canada), Institute for Pure and Applied Mathematics (USA), Institute for Mathematics and its Applications (USA), and the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (Italy).

He is a member of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM), American Mathematical Society (AMS), and American Physical Society (APS), and Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM).
