Two Clarkson University Army ROTC Cadets Earn USAA Spirit Award

Two Clarkson University Army ROTC cadets received the USAA Spirit Award this fall.

USAA Spirit AwardArmy Maj. Michael Athanasakis, professor of military science at Clarkson, presented the award to Alexandria Schwenzfeier '17 and Dennis DeVries '17.  Both cadets are seniors on track to graduate in spring and commission as active duty army officers.

Cadet Alexandria Schwenzfeier, from East Haddam, Conn., is majoring in biology and is a member of the Clarkson softball team.

Cadet Dennis Devries, from Johnson, N.Y., is majoring in mechanical engineering.

The USAA Spirit Award is a national award and scholarship that recognizes ROTC cadets for their academic success, leadership potential and future service to the United States throughout the country’s 270 Army ROTC programs. Winners receive a clock and $1,500 cash prize.
