Sanjeev Kulkarni Elected Clarkson University Trustee

Clarkson University alumnus and longtime Potsdam resident Sanjeev Kulkarni '84 of Princeton, N.J., has been elected to the Clarkson University Board of Trustees. He will serve on the external affairs and internal affairs committees.

Sanjeev KulkarniKulkarni is dean of the Graduate School and professor of electrical engineering at Princeton University, where he has served on the faculty since 1991. He is also an affiliated faculty member in both the Department of Operations Research and Financial Engineering and in the Department of Philosophy.

Kulkarni also served as associate dean for academic affairs in the School of Engineering and Applied Science from 2003 to 2005, as master of Butler College (one of Princeton’s six residential colleges) from 2004 to 2012, and as director of the Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education from 2011-2014.

His research interests include statistical pattern recognition, nonparametric statistics, machine learning, information theory, and signal processing.

Kulkarni is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and has received a number of awards for his research and teaching.

He has also been involved in a wide range of other professional activities. He spent 1998 at Susquehanna International Group and consulted with them from 1997-2001. He served on the board of Princeton University Press from 2011-2014 and is currently serving on the board of the Princeton YMCA. He has also served on the advisory boards of several startup companies and is a co-founder of Stockpile, Inc.

Kulkarni received his bachelor of science degrees in both mathematics and electrical engineering, and a master of science in mathematics from Clarkson. He also received a master of science from Stanford University and a Ph.D. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both in electrical engineering.

He resides in Princeton, N.J., with his wife, Elizabeth Schneck, who serves as program manager for the James Madison Program at Princeton University.
